Raptors crush Cowboys in home opener at Infinity Park E-mail
Written by Rick Gustafson - Colorado Rugby Examiner
Outside center Mike Graham lead the Raptors with 22 points including two trys and six conversions in Glendale’s 67 to 6 trouncing of the Wyoming Cowboys in a friendly at Glendale’s Infinity Park Saturday.

Graham opened the scoring with his first try in the sixth minute and put Glendale ahead for the day. The Raptor’s second try came four minutes later when Tanner Messer secured victory with the first of his two trys. The Cowboys’ Mark Stines accounted for Wyoming’s six first-half points with two penalty kicks making the score 29 to 6.

The Raptors pulled away in the second half when Jacob Nelson scored the first of the Raptors’ 33 second-half points, which included three consecutive trys by Raptors’ full back Taylor Howden. The Raptors’ strong defense shutout the Cowboys in the second half.

Next weekend the Raptors travel to Austin to face the Austin Blacks, and the Cowboys travel to Salt Lake City to face BYU.

If you are new to the sport: In rugby, a try is similar to football’s touchdown and is worth five points; the successful conversion of a try, adds two additional points for a total of seven.
