Glendale Raptors Play Begins March 1st!

Glendale, CO. - It doesn't matter what kind of weather is out there - The Glendale Raptors Senior Men's and Women's teams plan to be wired-in and ready for Rugby's Spring Season opener at the Glendale Rugby Stadium on March 1st.

The pre-season regimen began in earnest the second week of February for both teams at Glendale's Mir Park where the "practice pitch" has proven to be - intermittently - dry, soggy or frozen solid. Says Glendale Senior Men's Coach Mark Bullock, "It doesn't bother us. When you play Rugby, you're playing on every sort of field . sometimes the fields are really fields, like the kind you see in Kansas. It just prepares us for the variety ahead."

With the state-of-the-art Glendale stadium as their "home pitch," the Glendale Raptors are finding that they won't be traveling as much as they have in the past. "It seems every team wants to play here," says Bullock, "So, we have a great Spring Season shaping up with a great deal of action here on the home pitch for our local and regional fans."

The Senior Women Raptors (formally the Olde Girls) look forward to a new name and a new game in 2008 as well. Says Head Coach Wendy Cook, "I am very excited for the Spring Season. We have lined up some great tests with nationally ranked teams, Philly and Chicago Women. We also have a difficult challenge match against Boston to keep a seed in the national tournament. It's going to be a great show."

"We have some very talented women on the team and I look forward to seeing them play at their top performance," she continues. "I know the talent and dedication alone is going to produce a very successful year for us."

Tickets for the March 1st opener go on sale in just a matter of weeks. This year, all tickets will be available electronically for pre-purchase through the Glendale Rugby web site at http://www.GlendaleRugby.com. ""Because of the growing number of crowds at our events, we had to come up with a faster, more convenient solution," says Bobbi Reed, Glendale's Stadium Manager. "Now, you just choose which event you want to attend, purchase it and print your own ticket."
